The Summit of the Future (September 2024) is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to enhance cooperation on critical challenges and address gaps in global governance. It will reaffirm existing commitments, including to the Sustainable Development Goals and the United Nations Charter, and move towards a reinvigorated multilateral system better positioned to impact people’s lives positively.
Germany and Namibia, co-facilitators of the Summit, announce the release of the zero draft of the Pact for the Future. The draft is intended to serve as a starting point for the intergovernmental deliberations this year, with the ultimate aim of adopting an ambitious, concise, action-oriented Pact for the Future, per resolution 76/307.
Haiti will convene a Side Event at the Summit of the Future in New York, September 20 - 25, dates to be confirmed. Afro4UN will add the Haitian Futures report, and the Haitian Futures group will release its Futures Report at the UN Summit of the Future.
